Cllr John Seamais O Fearraigh
John Sheamais Ó’Fearraigh from Gweedore, is married to Bernadette and has three children, Carl, Leonie and Keely. John works as youth officer with Óige na Gaeltachta promoting the Irish Language and organising activities for youth organisation’s in the Gaeltachta. He is also an active community worker, involved with many groups including CLG Ghaoth Dobhar, CNNG, Cummann Sinn Féin Ghaoth Dobhar, Naoinra Chnocfola.
Having been forced to emigrate in the 1980s along with his five brothers, John knows what it is like to be a victim of the social and economic problems which blight communities across Donegal.
Through his work and activism John witnesses the effects of unemployment and lack of investment on a daily basis. John is committed to challenging those that for too long have been ignored and disregarded within our communities.
Working closely with his Sinn Féin colleagues at a national and local level to ensure that the concerns of the local community are championed at every level within the State, be it Donegal County County Council or Dáil Eireann, John is committed to transforming the council chamber in Lifford into a forum that will focus on finding solutions to issues that torment ordinary people across Donegal.
