Cllr Gary Doherty
Gary Doherty is 33 years old and lives in Castlefinn. He is married to Louise and has three children, Darragh, Aoife and Conor.
He holds a BA Hons in Irish History and Politics from the University of Ulster.
Gary was co-opted onto Donegal County Council in November 2013 and was subsequently elected to serve as a Member for the Stranorlar Municipal District in May 2014, topping the poll by some distance.
Gary was elected as the first ever Cathaoirleach of the Stranorlar Municipal District in June 2014. He sits on the Donegal Education and Training Board and the National Reserve Members Forum of the Education Training Boards Ireland (ETBI).
He also sits on the Board of the Irish Central and Border Area Network (ICBAN), Earagail Arts Festival, LATCH Ltd. (Lifford Courthouse) and Finn Valley College.
He is a committee member of Finn Valley Text Alert, Castlefinn Drama Group and is the PRO for Right2Water Donegal.
Gary is also involved with the local music scene and has appeared in amateur dramatics. He is a member of the GAA and is active with many community organisations such as the Tidy Towns.
