Cllr Glackin expresses opposition to closure of Churchill Post Office

Sinn Féin Councillor, Adrian Glackin, has expressed his concern at the impending closure of Churchill Post Office saying that it will be a devastating blow to the community.

Cllr Glackin said;

“There is outrage in the local community at the disgraceful decision to close Churchill Post Office – an essential service in the area.

“Just a number of years ago, we lost our local Garda station and now this is yet a further attack on the viability of our rural community.

“Consideration needs to be given to our elderly residents who rely on this service in order to collect their pensions. Many of these people do not have access to transport and would be lost without our post office.

“This decision needs to be reversed immediately and An Post needs to identify an alternative arrangement which keeps this vital service.

“The community will not tolerate the withdrawal of more services from Churchill and the wider area.”
